Your Guide For Fun in the Snow

The snow is falling in the mountains and it is time to start thinking about winter sports!  Sledding, skiing, snowshoeing, oh my!  There is something for everyone! 

Steven's Pass 

  • Sledding - They offer a dedicated area for snow play at no charge located just to the northwest of the Stevens Pass Nordic Center. Their sledding and tubing area is best suited for children ages 10 and under. Please bring your own sled or tube.  
  • Skiing/Snowboarding - Steven's Pass offers lessons for those just beginning to ski and nice trails for the more advanced.  
  • Nordic Skiing - Head to the Steven's Pass Nordic Center to get your trail pass, rent your equipment if needed, and start your cross country skiing adventure. All of the family is welcome, ages 6 and under are free!  Nordic skiing lessons are also available. 


Leavenworth Winter Sports Club

  • Tubing - The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club offers a tubing hill that is fun for the whole family!  They provide you with the tube and use a rope tow to tow you to the top of the 100-foot hill!  $23.00 per person which gives you 6 runs throughout the day of which you purchased the ticket.  Don't forget to hit up the Ski Hill Lodge for snacks and hot drinks after or in between runs.  
  • Skiing and Snowboarding - The Leavenworth Ski Hill has two groomed ski hills serviced by rope tows.  This a great venue for beginner skiers and snowboarders and an affordable option for families. There is no equipment rentals available at the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club.  
  • Sledding - Sledding is now available at our Golf Course venue. The fee is $9 per person ($22 per family of 4- $9 per additional person) and you need to bring your own sledding device.  
  • Nordic Skiing - Leavenworth Winter Sports Club maintains 26km of tracks and skating lanes that offer a variety of skiing terrain in four areas around Leavenworth. Each location offers a slightly different experience categorized by skill level. 
  • Ski Jump - The Ski Hill Jump is the only ski jump on the West Coast of the U.S.!  Beginning jumpers usually start with a ride down the landing hill and work their way up to the 15-meter jump, finally graduating to the 27-meter jump. A rope tow takes you back to the top after each run!
  • Snowshoeing - The Trail fee is $12 (Free at Waterfront Park) and the snowshoe trail is marked and maintained by the footsteps of the users (packed with a machine as condition allows).


Washington State Parks Snow Play Sno-Parks - Designated areas are available for tubing and general snow play at the Fields Spring, Lake Wenatchee, Hyak, Rose Springs, and Oldman Pass Sno-Parks. In addition, tubing and general snow play are permitted in non-designated areas in many Sno-Parks and in state parks that are open in the winter. For safety's sake, snow players should stay off designated snowmobile and non-motorized sports trails. 

  • Lake Wenatchee - The South Park offers a tubing hill, designated snow play area, and day-use area open for camping (additional fees may apply--see Lake Wenatchee State Park web page. There is no tubing or snow play area in the North.
  • Hyak, Lake Easton State Park - Directions: I-90 Exit 54. Turn south at the off-ramp (from Seattle, make a right turn off the freeway. From Cle Elum, make a left turn) to the intersection. Turn left, go about 1/8 mile, and turn right. Sno-park is on the first right.
    Open 8 am to 4:30 pm
  • Permits Required -  Permits: Sno-Park Permit, Special Groomed Trails Permit sticker (required with Seasonal Permit--see permit information)
    Sno-Park Permit required during the season
    Exception: From April 1 to 30, a Sno-Park Permit may or may not be required.
    Please obey posted signs indicating whether a permit is needed. Contact the local agency listed for each Sno-Park for more information.



The Summit at Snoqualmie

  • Tubing - Summit Tubing Park - With over 20 tubing lanes and a covered lift to take you back to the top, it is a great activity for the whole family! Each ticket gives access to the tubing hill and one snow tube for one session. Open Friday-Sunday and Holidays. Holidays include Dec. 15 - Jan. 1, January 15, & February 17-19
  • Skiing - With 26 lifts, 1,994 skiable acres, and 4 mountain areas, the Summit at Snoqualmie is a great place to ski.  They offer lessons, equipment rental, and military discounts.  
  • Nordic Skiing/Snowshoeing - With a vast network of over 50km of groomed trails weaving through the heart of the Central Cascade Mountains, The Summit Nordic Center provides a unique and convenient escape for cross-country skiers and snowshoers in the region. Great family activity, children 6 and under get a free trail pass! 


Guided snowshoe walks tour Stevens and Snoqualmie Pass - Get outdoors and learn about winter ecology snowshoeing on the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest January through March. No experience is necessary and the Forest Service provides snowshoes. Participants should wear layered and insulated clothing, hats, and gloves with sturdy, waterproof shoes or boots, hats, and gloves. To offset the costs of the program a donation of $10 per person is suggested for all tours except the extended hike and photography outing at Snoqualmie Pass, where $20 is requested.
