If you're looking for a fun and budget-friendly beach day, Jetty Island is an absolute gem! We recently spent the day there as a family, and it quickly became one of our favorite local spots for outdoor fun.
Getting to Jetty Island
Our adventure started at the Port of Everett, where we hopped on the walk-on ferry to the island. The ferry ride was quick—only about 3 minutes—and incredibly affordable at just $3 per person. The kids were excited from the moment we boarded, and before we knew it, we arrived at Jetty Island ready to explore.

Beach Fun and Photo Ops
As soon as we got off the ferry, we were greeted by a huge, fun beach chair—perfect for a family photo op! It set the tone for a day of relaxation and beachside fun. Jetty Island has plenty of sandy beach space, so we put out our chairs, unpacked the sand toys, and the kids spent hours building sandcastles. The beach was clean, spacious, and felt like a true getaway.
Kite Surfers and Kid Entertainment
One of the unexpected highlights of the day was watching the kite surfers! There were so many of them gliding and twirling across the water, and the kids were absolutely mesmerized. It added an extra layer of excitement to the day, and the kids kept trying to guess which surfer would do the best tricks.

Post-Beach Fun at Port of Everett
After spending hours enjoying the sand, sun, and sea, we eventually caught the ferry back to the Port of Everett. But the fun didn’t stop there! The kids were thrilled to discover the ocean-themed park right at the port, complete with a pirate ship-shaped playground. They ran around and played for what seemed like forever, burning off whatever energy they had left after our beach day.
Plan for Next Year
While the ferry service has now closed for the season, you can still reach Jetty Island by personal watercraft if you’re feeling adventurous. For next summer, I highly recommend adding Jetty Island to your bucket list! It’s a local treasure that provides an unforgettable day of family fun and relaxation. Don't miss out on this must-visit spot when the ferry opens again next summer!
